Trump just dropped another abuse-screed directed at Republican Rep. Thomas Massie – who supports Trump agenda most of the time – except when it comes to supporting the state of Israel’s endless demand for unquestioning support. Trump considers Massie a blue-haired Leftist – something like that – for not marching in lockstep.

This is characteristic of Trump. He effuses praise for those who praise him – as he did when Marjorie Taylor Green supported him. That effusing reverses the moment the formerly praised person steps even slightly out of line. Trump called MTG a “traitor” for publicly parting ways with his line about the Epstein Stuff being a “hoax” after Trump spent a lot of time urging his followers to believe it wasn’t.

Now Trump is on Massie’s ass – because Massie has dared to put America rather than the Israeli state and its money-machine first. Here is what he posted on his Truth Social platform the other day:

People are saying that Thomas Massie became a Liberal because his new wife, blessed be their marriage, is supposedly a Radical Left “flamethrower.” This new union all went so fast that maybe he didn’t know what he was getting into but, nevertheless, he is an absolutely terrible and unreliable “Republican” — Perhaps a RINO, or maybe even worse! Ed Gallrein, a Farmer and War Hero, is running against Massie. He is a HIGH QUALITY individual, and there is no Candidate for Congress that could be better. He is running because he realizes Thomas Massie has been totally disloyal to the President of the United States, and the Republican Party. He never votes for us, he always goes with the Democrats. Thomas Massie is a Complete and Total Disaster, we must make sure he loses, BIG!

Where to begin?

Massie is a “liberal”?  This is like Trump’s dogged insistence that the drugs he pushed “saved millions of lives.”

The more audacious the lie, the harder it is for most people to believe it isn’t one. Just ask OJ.

How about with the (again) gratuitous mocking of a political ally? A popular political ally? Why would he do that? It only serves to alienate Republican voters – as opposed to the dwindling number of die-hard Red Hats who support Trump because he’s Trump, no matter what Trump does. Rudolph Hess articulated this at Nuremburg.

Ronald Reagan took the stance that someone who agrees with you 80 percent of the time isn’t your enemy. Trump’s stand seems to be that anything less than 100 percent slavish support constitutes betrayal. This is Idi Amin/Joseph Stalin thinking. Total Orthodoxy is what’s required to remain on Trump’s good side.

If not, then you get what Massie got. Including jejune and churlish  personal insults, such as this about Massie’s recent marriage: “This new union all went so fast that maybe he didn’t know what he was getting into.” 

Massie got remarried after his first wife’s passing. He has never been accused of adultery. Much less paying hush money to a stripper. No one worries about Massie being on Epstein’s List, either. The man appears to be a decent man – yet he is attacked indecently by the man who dances to a gay disco band’s anthem at his rallies and pretends to be the avatar of “conservative” values – whatever that means anymore.

Trump says “Thomas Massie has been totally disloyal to the President of the United States, and the Republican Party. He never votes for us, he always goes with the Democrats. Thomas Massie is a Complete and Total Disaster, we must make sure he loses, BIG!”

But Massie does not “always go with the Democrats.” He sometimes parts ways with Trump – a very different thing. As for instance when he thinks Trump is not putting America but rather the state of Israel first. When did it become MAGA to put Israel first? Massie looks askance at bombing Iran on behalf of the state of Israel, because he does not see how this could possibly be in America’s interest.

But it is this bit that ought to raise some hairs on the back of our necks: “Thomas Massie has been totally disloyal to the President of the United States…” 

By which Trump means himself. Personally.

This is the Idi Amin/Joe Stalin requirement. Massie is loyal to his principles and to the promises he made to the people of his district, who elected him to represent them. That is where his primary loyalties lie – and ought to lie. A man who puts loyalty to a man – a political leader – is nothing more than a doggy follower, which is what Trump likes and what Trump surrounds himself with.

Massie was one of the few voices not toeing the line during “COVID,” by the way. No doubt this also prickles Orange Idi Amin, who hopes everyone has forgotten all about Dr. Fauci and Albert Bourla, just to name two – who were very much a “disaster” for the people of this country and yet neither have been accused of so much as letting out an untoward fart by the man who excoriates Massie.

The president – and the Israel First lobby – are doing their all to “primary” (that is, unseat) Massie, which is the surest evidence that Massie is more MAGA than Trump. The man Trump wants to replace Massie is of course very much Israel First and Trump is Always Right. He is a “war hero” – and that almost always bedazzles the Red Hats. It has since the days of Ollie North.

Cue up the Lee Greenwood song.
